After first catching the teaching bug as a Film Instructor at a Digital Media Academy summer camp, Everton earned an honors BA in Narrative Studies--an interdisciplinary exploration of storytelling across cultures, media, and historical periods--from the University of Southern California. At USC, Everton also served as a Team Leader for three years in an AmeriCorps program called Jumpstart, which focuses on implementing early literacy interventions at local preschools.After graduating from USC, Everton taught 4th grade full-time as a co-teacher at Sacred Heart Schools, Atherton and tutored high school students in English, history, test prep, and college applications. He then accepted a full-tuition merit scholarship to Stanford University, where he completed his Master of Arts in Education, Multiple Subject Teaching Credential, and Additional Authorization in Literature. As a Stanford Teaching Fellow, Everton had the opportunity to co-teach in 1st, 2nd, and 5th grade over the course of the year.Most recently, Everton taught and designed courses as an Upper School Humanities Teacher at Currey Ingram Academy, a private school for students with learning differences. He now teaches Middle and High School English and History at Davidson Academy Online, an independent school for profoundly gifted learners. Leading with energy and warmth, Everton is committed to honing students' strengths and facilitating growth in areas that challenge them. He is passionate about sharing his enthusiasm and love of learning with his students.
