In the follow up of the UN Water Conference, I work on positioning the international water agenda through water diplomacy at international fora, such as the UNFCCC COPs.I also manage programmes such as the UN Sanitation and Hygiene Fund that promote the human rights to safe drinking water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH).

In 2023 The Netherlands co-hosted the first UN Water Conference in 47 years, dedicated to accelerating progress to achieve SDGs and its water related goals. I worked closely with Tajikistan (Co-Host), UN DESA and UN-Water to organise this historical event. In the team, I was specifically working on stakeholder engagement, communications and public diplomacy and various stepping stone events (such as the UN Ocean Conference, SIWI World Water Week and COP27) in the run up to the conference.

I’m an elected Member of Parliament for the Province of Zuid-Holland for the period 2023-2027. I work amongst others on climate adaptation, environment (water, air and soil), and I’m chair of the parliamentary committee on governance, society and finances.

IRC is an international NGO that works with government and civil society to achieve universal access to safe drinking water and sanitation for all, forever. As Chief Director's Office, I managed various projects, developed new strategies, and maintained new or current partnerships and networks. I supported the Executive and Senior Leadership of IRC in achieving its goals and long-term vision. I also led on various social consultancy assignments in the field of finance, advocacy and/or project management through IRC Consult.

As Programme Officer (and previously Project Officer) at IRC, I was especially coordinating the consortium of the “Watershed empowering citizens” program. Within the programme, I led the Task Force of the ‘‘Voices for Water’’ campaign that reached nearly 2 million people to stand up for their human right to safe water and sanitation services. Beyond advocacy campaigns, I organized several events and debates. With the “All systems go!” symposium in March 2019, which was attended by 400 key actors in the water sector, as one of its highlights. I also conducted several social consultancy assignments such as the evaluation of the Water Sector Fund of the European Investment Bank for the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and I developed a number of advocacy strategies for civil society organisations and other NGOs.

I was an intern at the Permanent Mission of the Netherlands at the United Nations in New York. During this time, I assisted members of the Africa team (political affairs department) by reporting and advising on developments in the security, humanitarian, and political situation in Sub-Saharan Africa. I supported the deputy head of mission and permanent representative with the negotiations on peacekeeping operations in the UN Security Council, and I organized varying events. For example, a concert at the UN headquarters to build support for the peacekeeping operation in Mali.
