Smart Launcher srl is an Italian company focused on the design and development of Android apps. The company's main product is Smart Launcher, an award-winning Android home screen replacement which totalized more than 65 millions downloads.Vincenzo Colucci started the company and then I joined as the first software engineer. I engineered and developed most software components on the Android client and backend. Since the nature of the project itself, I set extraordinary attention to the UI and UX problems that pop up in modern software interfaces. In addition, the software challenges, which are pushed to the extreme in a launcher app, helped me pay attention to all the details of mobile software in a constrained environment. This is important because a launcher always runs on people’s devices. It is the principal software through which users access their devices, therefore I am very aware that it has a huge impact on the user’s experience as a whole. Moreover, being Smart Launcher a small company, I had the opportunity to cover both the engineering area and gain experience on the product one. As Smart Launcher we had the great opportunity to work with international teams and cooperate with them. We have been reached out by them thanks to our solid experience in the launcher’s development field and we have been asked to help them out in achieving their goals.The essential technologies I used in this project are: - Android development: Android core, Kotlin, Kotlin coroutines, MVVM architecture with live data, Gradle. - Backend development: PHP, Yii, Mysql, Redis, RabbitMQ.

I was selected on a shortlist of experts in the field of Information Technology for ARTI Puglia, a regional agency that has at its core innovation and technology, to contribute to the agency's needs. I am working on the SSD project (Sistema per il Dimensionamento Scolastico), a web portal that has the following aims: - helping citizens know how the Apulian school network is organized and structured; - have a track of the evolution of the Apulian school network across the school years; - assisting decision-makers in the process of the review of the school network; - collect instances and proposals of reshaping the school network in a collaborative environment.I have had a leading role in the design and development of the portal. Working on this project has been very fulfilling to me, since I had the opportunity to contribute to the innovation of the Italian PA, which sometimes, due to all its bureaucracy, makes it quite challenging to work in a linear and fast way.The main technologies I used for this project are Nginx, Angular, Laravel, Postgres+Postgis, JWT, SAML2, SPID.
