This square first asks what I am passionate about. Easy, music. I play drums, and have been for over 30 years.Still, music doesn't now, and never has made me much money...go figure. It's just a big hole I keep putting money into. Quite willingly I might add...because who doesn't like getting new gear?What I have done is parlayed that passion into journalism and telling stories. Writing a news story, be it for broadcast or to sell a story to a newsroom gives me the same kind of rush as writing a song. It was a lovely epiphany for me. Long story short (because short is generally better), a story has to flow and sing to your audience.I cut my teeth at News1130 Radio in Vancouver. It was a great way to hone writing skills; an ability to get one's thoughts down quickly and accurately. After that, I developed my own client list in the world of PR and was contracted to a couple of smaller firms for content development and media relations.I applaud those with the stomach for small business...turns out that wasn't me. In 2014 I joined BBB serving Mainland BC. Great crew and organization. I left BBB to join the communications team at BCLC. Ya know, I'm at a point in life where I can recognize when things aren't meant to be. The BC Lottery Corporation wasn't for me. So, I left and joined the Developmental Disabilities Association. It's a wonderful organization filled with caring and deeply compassionate people supporting those who need it most. I think I might stay here a while!Cheers.
