About Thomas Manandhar-Richardson
Motivated professional with proven experience in basically everything blah blah blah. But seriously:Part data scientist, part behavioural scientist, part Kingsman wannabe. Combining an understanding of data, AI and human behaviour to make sense of the world. Particularly interested in causal inference, econometrics, and AB testing, and how they can generate real value. I have worked on recommenders, ML-driven pricing, ML-driven customer behaviour prediction and more. I love giving talks and seminars, and breaking down complex topics in AI and data science in a way that anyone can understand and get excited about. If you need a speaker for an event related to any of the topics I'm interested in, DM me! My talks are about 60% data science magic, 40% pretty pictures and 0% equations.I can't build the latest deep learning models, but I do have a proven record of tackling important business problems using data and machine learning. I'm laser-focussed on ML that generates real, tangible value: reduced costs, strong revenue growth, better business decisions and happier employees + customers. If you can't translate your ROC AUC or RMSE into real business metrics, they're going in the bin.It is incredibly important to me that I do good in the world. In my work at Bryant Research, I help charities be more effective. I provide free advising to non-profits on Generative AI in my spare time (DM me!).I am particularly passionate about ending the factory farming of animals. I believe that in the coming decades we can transform our food system so that everyone can eat healthier, cheaper, tastier food than now, that is better for the environment and involves no animal suffering. I use my data and research skills to help organisations make this amazing future a reality.I'm also a strong advocate for finding (and funding) the most effective charities to solve the world's problems. I’m part of an international community of people who’ve pledged to donate at least 10% of their income over the course of their careers. The Giving What We Can community has over 8,000 members and has pledged in excess of $2.5 billion to the world’s most effective charities. If you’re interested in chatting about the pledge, why I took it or what charities I believe do the most good (and which I think are probably wastes of your donation money) let me know!
