EducationAfter a degree in architectural engineering and a gap year in a US school, I extended my studies with a BA Hons in Interior and Product Design at the Academy of Arts in Maastricht and later took a Master Degree in Retail & Communication Design at the Piet Zwart Institute in Rotterdam. Early CareerAfter a few years free-lancing, I started work at Amsterdam-based Merkx & Girod, where I worked on some high profile projects in their feasibility/conception stages, such as the government advisory body offices “Raad Van State”, the Amsterdam headquarters for Ernst & Young, Dutch Railway HQ “Inktpot” and others, whilst at the same time working on retail projects from concept to implementation; the Van Gogh Museum shop and four full new stores for the Dutch department store de Bijenkorf amongst others.After moving to London I mainly worked as a lead designer on high-end residential projects, such as Pan Peninsula, Baltimore Wharf and the Tapestry Building after joining Johnson Naylor.Current PositionIn 2008 I joined the Imagination Group as an Associate Director of Virgile and Stone as an integral member of the Retail and Leisure team and becoming a partner in 2014 and eventually becoming the Creative Director in 2017.
