My responsibilities at Titanic Belfast involve cleaning and refilling the gift shop, handling money, upselling products and working tills. In addition, I am responsible for helping customers, which requires an up to date knowledge about the stock, and of the history of the Titanic and Belfast. I also work as an assistant in the Galley café, where maintaining a hygienic environment for customers and other workers alike is paramount. My responsibilities in the café include waiting and cleaning tables, mopping and cleaning the café at closing time, and handling hot food. For those who are unable to speak English, slower and more basic communication is necessary, or communication within their own language, as I am able to manage with French, Spanish and Chinese customers. Prior to its closing down, I was also an assistant in the photographic department. This involved taking pictures for guests, editing and printing them, and then selling them to guests as they finish the exhibition, along with upselling extras such as key-rings and magnets.

My role as an English Language Assistant required me to teach English to French-Canadian students in two separate elementary schools, through a variety of activities. This included creating fun and engaging lesson plans, along with correcting work, including translation, grammar exercises, and submitting feedback. On certain days, I was required to come up with outdoor physical activities that incorporated English language learning for the children at one of the school’s daycare centres. I also helped the English teacher in organising and teaching her own lesson plans, and often stayed after school to support students struggling with their English work.
