Every year Scottish Water invests around £500 million to enhance infrastructure and improve services for customers. Whether it’s construction of a new water treatment works or laying new pipes, I’m passionate about making the right decisions at the earliest possible stage to ensure we can deliver the project in the most cost-effective, timely and efficient manner.My Specialist Services team provides an internal consultancy service to colleagues across Scottish Water and also among our construction alliances. My role is to ensure that we create the right environment for our technical experts to deliver the required investment so that Scottish Water is increasingly valued and trusted by the community.We’re looking to build collaborative and increasingly long-term relationships with the supply chain, enabling our capital programme to be delivered effectively and efficiently. This means we can provide great services to our customers in a more cost-effective way, helping to keep charges for our 2.4 million domestic customers as affordable as possible.A big part of this is identifying all issues that need to be taken into consideration before we decide to press ahead with a project, as well as identifying all stakeholders and those with an interest in what we are trying to achieve.We work closely with colleagues in our subsidiaries, Scottish Water International and Scottish Water Horizons, and in the growth of our renewable energy portfolio to reduce electricity costs at our treatment works.Scottish Water is an organisation buzzing with energy and a 3,500-strong workforce committed to delivering the best possible experiences for our customers.
