I've spent my life exploring the impact of mobile computing, the internet, and social media. I have over 25 years of experience at the centre of some of the biggest changes in how the world communicates and a background in physics, computing, and broadcast media. As mobiles started I was at POS, running its tech support centre. I then changed careers and moved into technology journalism. That saw me work with the 'All About' team (All About Symbian, All About Palm, and All About Windows Phones). I spent over ten years reviewing software, hardware, covering trade shows, writing editorial features, and being a vital conduit between companies and communities. This lead to my current role with Forbes, where I have been a contributing writer on technology, mobile computing, and social media since 2011. This includes hardware and software reviews, regular columns on the Apple and Android platforms, and editorial features.I produce and host a number of long-running podcasts and radio shows, including annual coverage of SXSW, and the Edinburgh Festivals. I manage a team of six writers and more guest contributors at ESC Insight, where we provide all-year round coverage of The Eurovision Song Contest. This includes the ESC insight podcast, which has been running for eight years, production of the UK radio broadcast of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest, and production of the US radio broadcast of the Adult Contest.I have spoken at numerous conferences (including SXSW, Web Summit, Le Web, Edinburgh Film Festival, EBU Multimedia Meets Radio, Lonely Planet Travel Blogger, O2 Developer Days, and more) and offers contributions to many broadcasters and publications (including BBC News, Sky News, CNN, SBS, The Guardian, The Stage, and more).Today I continue to write for Forbes and as a freelance technology journalist. I cover Eurovision for ESC Insight and others, and produce syndicated radio programming throughout the year on arts, culture, new media, and entertainment.
