Rwanda Water Project
CurrentIn the Spring of 2022, EWB Purdue adopted a project in Rubona, Rwanda. The goal of this project is to implement a water distribution system to transport water from a natural mountain spring to several clusters of community homes. This would ease the collection process for the women and children who typically collect water for their families. It would also enable all community members to use the clean spring water, as opposed to the contaminated water of the local river, reducing the risk of waterborne disease. Implementing this system would decrease the probability of children missing school to gather water and allow the community members to concentrate on other socio-economic activities. We completed our first assessment trip in May 2022 and our team is moving on to the conceptual design phase.
