IT Support at IFIC Forensics.

The Maths, Stats and OR Network provides support to every Higher Education Institution in the UK and in particular this post was for the provision of IT advice and support for academic staff involved in teaching.Key tasks1. Running of and involvement with workshops (New lecturers' training, regional workshops programme, cognate Professional Body workshops, annual conference) including presentation, session chairing and, to a lesser extent, organisation.2. Writing and commissioning articles for 'MSOR Connections' (the Subject Centre's Newsletter). Publication of our activities and pedagogic research in suitable journals (e.g. Journal of Statistical Software).3. Identification of educational resources worthy of cataloguing.4. Attendance and presentation at conferences (Including; International Conference on Teaching Statistics, Royal Statistical Society, Operational Research Society, ALT-C, HE Academy annual conference).5. Self-led research (e.g. survey tools: development, workshops in the use of, analysis of usage, analysis of responses; facilities for configuring R).6. Support of colleagues e.g. open invitiations to all to consult on any aspects of our subject work, collaboration in projects where time permits.7. Contact with Mini-projects fund holders to check progress and offer assistance if required.8. Attendance of events on behalf of the Assistant Director to represent the Subject Centre.

Modeling of Hospital systems, assistance in re-structuring workflow and re-equipping hospitals in the UK, Europe, Eastern Europe and the United States.Key tasks1. Programming and modelling2. During BSc course at Paisley College of Technology I was involved in many short contracts with research companies, engineering firms, contractors and universities - an interesting example was computer control of Langmuir-Blodgett Troughs (NEMA Technology).Key tasks:1. A 'sandwich course' year in industry was spent at the Scottish Operational Research Department, Ravenscraig Steelworks - an interesting example project was controlling quality (impurities such as slag spots and other flaws such as longitudinal cracking) of steel production from continuous casting.Key tasks:1.
