In brief- Worked on electrochemical biosensors for a variety of pathogens. Two in process of commercialisation. I worked fabricating miniaturised biosensors, and then putting DNA and antibodies on them. The idea is to detect pathogens like Tuberculosis and Sepsis quickly using mass producible sensing platforms.

In brief - Developed implantable electrochemical sensors for continuous monitoring.IMPACT was a big project, consisting of a multidisciplinary team of engineers, chemists, veterinary clinicians, social scientists and human cancer specialists. The aim is to develop miniaturised, implantable sensors which can record physiological parameters inside a cancerous tumour, in real time. The sensors worked nicely, which was a relief. Especially as developing the insulation for the chips was my main responsibility.

In brief - Created silicon microelectrodes for industrial monitoring in extreme conditions.So, my PhD focused on developing microscale sensors (microfabricated microelectrodes, to be precise), which can sense chemicals in the harsh environment of 500°C molten salt. It meant spending an awful lot of time fabricating devices in cleanrooms, before immediately breaking them in the salt. It was a really nice feeling when we got them working, and we got a few nice papers out about it, which you can see below. Though I am left with a lot of images of broken electrodes (those are mainly in my thesis).
