Successfully built a new MDU program from scratch, including on-boarding and training contracted staff, contractors, new tracking methods, work flows, inter-departmental coordination and processes. Managed 15 direct reports, 12 contract survey and mdu construction contractors. I delivered weekly progress updates to senior leadership and board members. In short I built a fully functional, successful MDU program that integrated a dozen new vendors, significant cost savings architectural changes, and proved out the business model of utilizing alternate technologies to deliver 1 GB speeds to MDU that are extant with low quality inside wire. I guided the build of the program from literal zero, with a single employee, during the launch of a new multi-state carrier, with limited to no senior leadership involvement, and aggressive revenue growth goals. Responsible for the overall management and P&L control for a mid-size regional full service construction contractor executing a national SOW with Comcast.

I Initially opened SSG to support a Commercial Address Survey done entirely via subcontractor selected by Comcast that my employer (Eclipse Engineering) passed on. From 2007 – 2012, SSG provided occasional small executive administrative services, in addition to “pass thru” employment for 4 employees, who provided development serviced to Comcast and were placed in the Comcast Seattle office.• Through providing contract executive administrative support, SSG became known as the Seattle market SME in the Seattle proprietary, oracle platform-based Capital asset tracking & management application known as “Job Tracking” or “JT”• SSG awarded the contract to provide launch support and training to all Comcast West markets and market construction contractors during the roll-out of JT.• I wrote a comprehensive JT user guide, created training materials, and developed a 2-day training program on the use of JT, including Comcast procedural requirements• Developed the QC module portion of JT and managed the development team that integrated the module and updated the market specific needs for each market, by the application instance.• Through the roll-out of JT, I was successful in being awarded market QC services contracts for Seattle, Denver, Albuquerque, and Salt Lake City.• To service these new contracts, I concurrently grew SSG from 4 employees to 50, across 7 states. o Notable: I was an early adopter of remote employees and Office 365. All employees were outfitted in home offices, shipping computer equipment, and vehicles as needed.• I provided general management to the company (SSG), directly managed 7 senior staff, as well as program management for QC across all 4 markets.• QC was completed & tracked to closure through JT for more than 7,000 individual jobs per year

During the years I was with Eclipse Engineering, I worked as a trusted associate of the owner, and in addition to project management, I was also relied upon to assist in developing new business, job bidding and budgeting, contract negotiation, customer relationship management, internal goal setting, invoicing and P&L analysis, training, sub-contractor supervision, and employee supervision when needed. I was senior project manager on all projects that I developed for the company and provided additional project support where needed for other projects. I had P&L responsibility for projects that I developed and bid on, and I was the JT platform interface for all Comcast projects done at Eclipse.

During this period my wife and I attempted to create a global retail and manufacturing empire, with only limited success, but with significant experience in small business and entrepreneurship. To supplement the revenues of our retail efforts, I continued to engage in freelance project management work within the telecommunication industry. In addition to a commercial Washington Winery (Latitude 46*N) a medical massage clinic, women’s fitness studio, and supplement manufacturing, I accepted and worked on the following projects:• Sefnco Communication – Data analysis, billing review, project tracking, and creating a construction department for a new market area in WA, including tracking, purchasing equipment, ordering materials, hiring a staff, and integrating it into an existing construction office.• Horizon Communications – Various project support, training on the Comcast application, IT support. Assisted with new business development, ultimately securing Horizon a construction contract in Portland, OR and set-up and operated a satellite office/warehouse from scratch until hand-off to a permanent manager. • Boss Construction –I provided technical consultation on the use of the Comcast application, ROW expertise, permitting in the ROW, and OSP aerial and u/g construction techniques and Comcast construction requirements. Boss, a wireless tower constructor, had been awarded an initial contract with Comcast for the first phase of providing fiber backhaul to wireless carrier T-Mobile.

I joined Eclipse as project manager with the primary goal of new project development. My primary contribution to eclipse during this period included:• Response and award of the AT&T RFP for turn-key engineering & construction of the AT&T “NIU” telephony construction for WA state. Included addressing, survey, engineering of area MDU, construction of coax plant extensions, installation of cross connects, NIU units, and project tracking. I personally developed all aspects of the turn-key project managing materials, survey crew, construction sub-contractors and the hiring and supervision of additional project staff, all invoicing and was responsible for the project P&L. • Pursuing and being awarded an NIU contract in the Bay Area for AT&T (from a cold call to the Director of Construction)• The turn-key design, engineering and construction of an advanced services HFC network for the WWU campus in Bellingham, WA• NIU project earned $12M over 24 months and I managed it to a 35% net profit.• P&L responsibility for any project that I developed, and in all cases met an expected 30% net profit target

In the Seattle market, I was an early hire at TCI, responsible for managing the MDU portion of the market wide “turn-key” contractor for the “rebuild” – the reconstruction of the existing coax only distribution plant into the modern HFC network that is still operating today. On my first day, I was asked to order 25% of the materials needed to upgrade the entire market’s MDU’s and to write the “A&Es” (contract) to upgrade the passive bandwidth and fittings for all MDU in the market. So, I did. Then we got busy.Hired initially as a “telecom specialist” I was promoted within a few weeks to project manager in charge of MDU for the market, with 30+ direct reports, approval authority on over $40m in budget and was managing over a dozen regional and national contractors, actualizing project proposals, negotiating rates, ordering material, approving invoices and ultimately establishing long-standing collaborative relationships many of which I still maintain.Significant milestones during this period of my career that had lasting industry impact include:• I became an MDU SME, recognized nationally via being the primary author for the HFC re-write of the MDU section of the TCI construction manual.• I developed and successfully got ratified the “MDU doors passed” tracking model (vs “miles built”- still the standard for OSP), a progress metric that revealed the worth of TCI’s progress upgrading residential customers per franchise agreement that TCI progress was judged against. This metric also had a positive impact on maintaining TCI’s stock price and investor value during this period and was instrumental in avoiding significant financial penalties for poor performance, as defined in the franchise.• The modern MDU sheet metal lockbox, with multiple conduit cutouts, grounding backplate, pre-cut knockouts and various versions of the diversified bolt lock are all directly descended from the design work I did with diversified during the first year of the Seattle rebuild.

A travelling project manager responsible for the design, contractor selection, management, materials and construction of new SMATV coax distribution plants on private MDU properties.• Multiple projects simultaneously in as many as 4 states with project value to $2.5M• Utilized local Engineering contractor Eclipse Engineering for walkout & design of properties.• Responsible for discovering that a slew of designs was discovered incorrect during construction. The initial thought was to fire the offending design contractor, but instead I called an all hands with the construction department and we discovered that the designs were correct based on the amplifier specs provided, but our internal parts department had substituted an amplifier part number to save cost, not realizing that it affected cascade and the number amplifiers required. Clarity of consideration, and technical expertise led to a Quick resolution and saved millions in re-construction work replacing and re-spacing amplification.

My first post Navy job working for a specialty metals smelting company. I was hired into the Electrical shop of 3 people, in the R&D branch of the company. We built PLC control panels, worked with the machinists, programmers and engineers to build, assemble, test, operate and ultimately sell a variety of industrial equipment recycling low purity titanium• Duties included the customizing of cabinets with wiring harness, switches, gauges, meters, and other PLC control devices and the wiring of control harnesses to the equipment, testing, and operation of the systems.• Systems built include a hard-vacuum titanium scrap smelting furnace that used a solid laser smelt system that poured into a centrifugal spin caster, and a solid vapor deposition line to produce titanium circuits onto ionized substrate.(Note: these dates are NOT accurate, but dates are required by LinkedIn on this form)
