A cancer scare in 2012 made us realize we needed to make a change. Instead of getting through it and putting it behind us, we decided to find out why it happened. Turns out that we were putting toxins on and in our bodies for decades. And actually? Most people do. We get it.   Years ago, Michael was diagnosed with cancer. It wasn't a super-scary kind, and he's fine now, but it made us ask: what are we putting on and in our bodies? Charlotte took it on herself to do heavy research and found that we were literally steeping ourselves in chemicals, preservatives and synthetics. That's when we started making changes. We started with making our own lip balms. Then deodorant. Then toothpaste. Every time a new consumable was formulated, we used what we made instead of buying the same item from a store. The result? We had everything we would normally use in our day-to-day, created without any harmful checmicals, preservatives or ingredients. That's when people started asking: "Hey, do you guys sell this stuff? Because if not, you should." And after hearing that multiple times from multiple people, Exactly Zero was born.
