About Mark Silber

Do you know what birds are? Successful dinosaurs. Sidestepped the asteroid, outwitted the mammals, sprouted feathers, took to the sky. Adapted and thrived. T. Rex is a dusty museum exhibit pathetically frightening schoolchildren. Meanwhile, birds are soaring overhead, gliding on the breeze, crapping on your windshield. In evolutionary terms, there is a word for birds: Winners.I mention this because in business, it is common to refer to someone who has been around for a while as a dinosaur. And I've been around: When I started in advertising, media meant print, radio and broadcast television. Then in 1994 the Internet popped up and I leapt into the digital abyss. Around 2010, when mobile had reached the immaturity level of the early web, I leapt again. And if tomorrow advertising means wearables, in-car, drones, nanobots or the Internet-of-things, it doesn't matter. I’m ready. Because everything I’ve ever learned about branding, marketing, communications and copywriting – about having, selling and executing great brand-building ideas, regardless of platform, channel or medium – is not only relevant, it’s evolutionarily advantageous. You see, eventually, everyone becomes a dinosaur. The question is which kind of dinosaur will you be?
