I am a people person. That may not be popular to state these days, but in the 13 year gap in my employment history, I was fully attending to my two sons, one of whom had special needs. That part of my journey is the most valuable of my life. While focusing on helping him navigate the world around us, I had to step back and constantly observe to try to gain his perspective to better communicate with him. I am believe "how" you communicate is possibly more important that "what" you have to say. The greatest complement I have received came from a new co-worker that had previously worked in another organization servicing mutual clients. Upon meeting and briefly discussing our various experiences, she suddenly said "You're the one!", She then elaborated, explaining that while sitting in our waiting room, the conversation among the clients was expression of their desire to get to speak to me because I take the time to explain things to them and even if it is not the answer they wanted, they appreciated having their questions answered.
