WHAT DRIVES MEInequality is a factor in our lives the moment we are born. To arrive in the world healthy is a matter of luck. It is also a matter of luck to find yourself born into a family able to shelter, feed and clothe you, in a part of the world with the resources to offer education, growth and opportunity. As one of those 'born lucky', I accept my responsibility to help those who face additional obstacles, through no fault of their own, to live their best lives.WHY I LOVE LEARNINGLearning is an agent of change. It also helps vulnerable young people and adults find out who they are, what they are good at, and gives them purpose. Learning also raises awareness and understanding amongst the rest of us, so we may better support those who need our help. Learning promotes opportunity for all.... AND EDUCATIONAnd by this I mean education that adapts to the learner. I left the teaching profession after becoming disillusioned with our education system. It led me to become an educational book publisher and film-maker. While I've largely left the film-making behind, my passion project remains Your Stories Matter: a publishing imprint focused on semi-autobiographical stories for children, young people and adults that raise awareness and understanding of diversity and difference, including what it is like to be neurodivergent.I also publish/produce other educational material that interests me, including topics around our built heritage. While it might seem a bit of a tangent, I was once a conservation builder and believe that a sense of place helps us understand who we are and how we fit.HERE TO HELPWhile I now work for Local Government as a commissioner of public services (making a difference from inside 'the system'), I devote the rest of my time to helping out where and how I can.(If you read to the end, thank you. Maybe we should connect!)
