Hi, I'm Tom. I run Dignity Lifts. Dignity Lifts are electrically lifting toilet seats that help people maintain their dignity and independence. A toilet lift helps people age in place by allowing them to toilet independently. You can learn more at DignityLifts.com. More about me: I've been a successful entrepreneur since 1998. I have a knack for creating brands that fill gaps and do things other people never thought of. I try to seek needs and solutions that mainstream companies might avoid. I do this because I enjoy keeping my sense of humor about my work and I know this isn't possible when all of your competitors take themselves so seriously. My business history began when I left corporate America in 1998 to start an online drugstore called ShopInPrivate.com. Shop In private was mentioned in The Wall Street Journal and caused me to profiled in Success Magazine. ShopInPrivate.com created a larger company called PriveCo Inc., that created and operates different product brands and websites from our offices and warehouse in Troy, Michigan. PriveCo specializes in products that people are embarrassed to talk about. We sell everything from enemas to bachelorette party supplies. In my leisure time I raise three kids with my wife, I have written three best-selling books on Pumpkin Carving, and I lead a volunteer group in the city of Detroit called The Enemies of Debris. We clean up trash in parks and playgrounds as The Detroit Mower Gang, we clean up trash in our waterways as "Trash Fishing" and we clean trash off the streets with an event called The Great American Pick Up Pick Up. You can see me on TV on reruns of Conan, Live with Kelly & Ryan, Bizarre Foods and Anthony Bourdain's Parts Unknown.
