These teams are responsible for developing academic-related applications – one team delivers institution-wide systems, the other provides bespoke services for Medicine and Dentistry. These systems include Personalised Timetabling, Learning Environments and Course Evaluation systems. I have managed the successful delivery of these web-based systems, several of which have c. 15,000 users.In addition to staff management, the role includes technical & business analysis, project management, customer management, risk assessment & management, strategic development and planning. I am a member of various project boards and steering groups both within IT Services and the wider University community. These include Digital Strategy, Gender Equality, Institutional Learning Environment, IT Operational Security and Medicine Curriculum. I have also coordinated & taught a six-week course as part of Medical Humanities.The Medi-CAL Unit provides a bespoke service for the Medicine & Dentistry curricula delivering services such as learning environments, eLearning, support services, 3D visualisation and mobile applications. The Unit also provides some external services for clients in similar domains.The Academic Applications Development Team provides a development service for institution-wide teaching & learning systems. This includes development of the Blackboard Learn 9.1 learning environment, course evaluation, absence reporting and, new for 2014, a personalised timetable & tutorial management system. Time is split 50/50 with role as Software Development Lead, Medi-CAL Unit. As Institutional Solutions Team Leader I am responsible for managing a small development team supporting institutional (Teaching & Learning) services, in particular the institutional VLE (Blackboard Learn 9.1).

Managing the Software Development process for the Medi-CAL Unit and making decisions about the technologies in use. The Medi-CAL Unit specialises in eLearning and supporting systems for Medical and Dental students within the University. As well as Software development, the role includes some end user support, project management and training.

Developing and providing technical support eLearning applications and portals for students studying Medicine and Dentistry.

I audited Computer Systems including performing security reviews of Operating System & Database technologies. I was also involved in Data Analytics.
