Eric is a tech-focused corporate mergers & acquisitions lawyer with a rare combination of in-house, corporate development and partner-level law firm experience. Currently, Eric is the Vice President, M&A and Corporate, Legal, at Cloud Software Group, an enterprise software company that serves over 400,000 customers and more than 100 million users globally, and comprises the businesses of Citrix, TIBCO and others. At CSG, Eric leads the legal team responsible for all areas of M&A, corporate law, entity management, financings and reporting requirements.Over the course of his over 20 years of experience, Eric has completed more than 100 M&A and other strategic transactions, representing an aggregate deal value of more than $60 billion.Drawing from his diverse background, which includes both in-house and business-side leadership roles, Eric's insight into strategic matters, financial analysis and business operations allows him to quickly calibrate and provide practical, contextualized advice and effective solutions to complex, multi-threaded issues.Prior to joining Cloud Software Group, Eric led the M&A and Investments legal team at Cisco, where he oversaw the execution of Cisco’s global strategic deal and investment footprint, including its acquisition of Splunk, one of the largest technology software deals overall and Cisco’s largest acquisition to date, and the launch of its $1B AI investment fund. Before going back in-house, Eric was a partner in the corporate and M&A practices of Morgan Lewis & Bockius, WilmerHale and White & Case where he regularly represented clients that included Intel, CapitalG, Oracle, Gilead Sciences, Samsung, Xperi, Pivotal, Lightspeed Commerce and other global technology and life sciences companies. Prior to rejoining private practice, Eric worked first as a senior corporate and M&A lawyer and then as director of corporate development at Oracle Corporation, a global enterprise technology company. In his roles at Oracle, Eric held responsibility for all aspects of the company’s acquisitions, and played a key role in the acquisitions of BEA Systems and Sun Microsystems, as well as other acquisitions of public companies. Eric was also an early and key contributor to Oracle's M&A program, establishing practices that have since been used in more than 100 acquisitions. As both a business and legal leader in Oracle's many acquisitions throughout his tenure, Eric played an important role in helping M&A become one of Oracle’s strategic drivers of growth, with annual revenue growing by over $19 billion from 2007 to 2012.
