 Dr. Alpern was born in California, moved to Israel as a child, and returned to the United States when he was in High School. He graduated Summa Cum Laude from Stanford University in 1993, obtained his Medical Doctorate from UCSF and completed residency training in Orthopedic Surgery at UCLA.

Dr. Alpern lives with his wife and two young children in Malibu and enjoys ocean kayaking and traveling.
