To me engineering is about setting up a better future through new ideas and innovative designs. Working in an industry revolved around growth for the world is an honor and solving analytical problems to better the lives of ourselves and future generations is what drives this growth. Other peoples lives can be bettered through this field. Human relationship is one of the most important things in life. The need for interaction and the thrive to care for others is a driving factor for our existence. I personally find networking with anyone you meet is important for ones own health. I consider myself a people person and I care to listen and help people solve issues whether that be emotionally or something as simple as helping them put together furniture. The career I want to chase after has to be something that involves me bettering peoples lives and meeting people and collaborating with others thoughts and ideas. Engineering is exactly that and it is one of the reasons I chose this path in life. One of the main things I want in life is to have a family and to provide for that family in every possible way. I find the knowledge from this field to be very useful in that desire. By having the skills and knowledge of innovation and problem solving, I will be able to have a career that will not only better the world, but better my family as well. I have always found amazement in things people create and come up with that make their own lives easier. I want to apply my education to that sort of thing. Whether it be some sort of DIY project at home or coming up with a product for a company that people can use everyday to add efficiency or enjoyment to their lives. In college my program called for a two semester senior design project that was required for final graduation. I was placed in a group set out to design a fully solar powered buggy. It was a 9 month project were design, labor, collaborative work and analytical problem solving were all required. My teams design hit all of the given objectives and constraints leading to a success for the project. These included, traveling 20 miles within 8 hours at a top speed of 3 mph. Carrying a payload of 120 lbs and being safe to the environment and pedestrians. If there is something about engineering that really brings me to love the industry, its the satisfaction of completing a design that works and does what it is supposed to. Being able to use my own mind to improve or create something has no better feeling. I want to live everyday challenging myself, learning and bettering the world around me.
