Having left the warm embrace of full-time employment in 2010, I changed direction and focus, utilising my writing skills on a freelance basis. In 2014, I co-founded of Driven to Write, 'the World's least influential automotive site', for which I currently edit and write content. Prior to this, I spent over ten years at publishers, EMAP, where I produced, wrote and edited content for amongst other projects, an annual 250-page marketing yearbook, later editing the Shots Directory for two years. In a freelance capacity, I have carried out a copywriting and proposition development brief for The British Heart Foundation and have been responsible for all marketing and fundraising material for The Conservation Volunteers - a national volunteering & conservation charity.

Following a year's sabbatical, I rejoined EMAP Inform division as Data Editor on the Shots Directory. This role involved project managing the data collection and production of the annual Shots directory, a 600 page guide to the creative industry. I managed a team of researchers, maintaining and updating the shots' CMS, working with internal and outside IT specialists to develop and enhance the data collection process.

I assumed the role of Data Integrity Manager for Brad Insight in 1999. This involved the management and importation of externally sourced expenditure data feeds, key to the integrity of the Genesis desktop client agency and advertiser contact management system. The role also encompassed the management and maintenance of CMS data integrity, in addition to managing data collection projects for sister EMAP businesses - including Retailweek and Middle Eastern Economic Digest (MEED).

Supporting the Agency Research Manager, I supervised a team of five researchers collecting and updating UK advertising-agency data for the ALF Directory and Genesis contact management system - (UK advertiser and ad-agency registers). The role involved recruitment, people and data management, in addition to database interface development.
