Profile bio

About Fitsume Woldemedhin

I am an Ethiopian currently working for People in Need, a Czech-based international organization. My greatest sense of wellbeing comes from improving the quality of life for those around me, it is a calling to me in life. I always had also an interest and passion to work in the areas of Health, Nutrition, and WASH interventions, since I became a BSc Nursing student at Haromaya University, Ethiopia in 2007. My time as a BSc Nurse was my direct learning environment, in which I gained an in-depth understanding of the multitude of public health problems that came hand-in-hand in Ethiopian communities, particularly in very rural, resource-strained areas, emergency exposed, and drought-prone areas.I am a self-driven professional and experienced project manager with a strong track record of achievements, boasting over fourteen years (14+) of proven experience in programming, leadership, coordination, and management across a diverse array of Health, Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH), and Nutrition projects within governmental and humanitarian organizations. My career spans both development and emergency settings, encompassing various communities in the SNNPR and Sidama Regions.Currently, I hold the position of Project Manager for the WASH and Nutrition project at People In Need, where I leverage my extensive expertise to drive impactful initiatives. Before this role, I held key positions such as WASH and Health Project Manager, Water Supply Project Manager, WASH and Emergency Projects Field Coordinator, Woreda Health Office Head, Health Center Head, and Focal Person for different pivotal areas in previous assignments. In these roles, I honed my skills in project cycle management, from planning to monitoring, evaluation, and learning stages. Through working on many projects, I have learned to handle and manage diverse projects and considerable workloads in stressful situations in different communities and fields of work. Personally, I am passionate about helping people, adept at handling challenges, and thrive in environments that present new opportunities for growth and problem-solving.
