Heather is the founder, executive director and program director of Friend 2 Friend Social Learning Society in Vancouver BC, Canada and the mother of three, one of her children is on the autism spectrum. As the originator of the Autism Demystification® model programs and Virtual Reality Autism Demystification® program, she leads training and outreach efforts to establish inclusive peer play and friendship programs worldwide. Widely published in peer-reviewed journals and related publications, and author of You Don't Know, Jack: Friend 2 Friend Autism Demystification Puppet Program, That’s What’s Different About Me, Demystifying Autism: the Friend 2 Friend Simulation Game, Can I Play Too and coauthor Learners on the Autism Spectrum: Preparing Highly Qualified Educators. Heather has over 25 years experience designing and implementing inclusive social-emotional, communication, peer play and friendship based programs for individuals on the autism spectrum. Heather leads an interdisciplinary team designing Integrated Play Groups program at the Society Play Centres, a well as school-based programs.
