Warranty Engineer prepares commercial and technical data packages for evaluation of customer warranty claims within the Sub Sahara African region, and assists field service and technical support personnel in solving warranty issues. Oversee warranty claims process for customers operating in region of responsibility as well as liaising with customers' head offices in different time zones (Athens, Houston, Denmark, Singapore, Spain, Italy). Oversee the production of plasctic moulded fuel tanks for passenger vehicles (VWSA Polo). Ensure good attendance and a highly motivated team of operators. Ensure all machinery and equipment are in good operational conditon. Assume responsibilities of mainatenance artisan (since the plant is a small concern). Liase with management, customers and suppliers on a daily basis regarding production targets and operational requirements. Ensure HSEQ standards are maintained and enforced to ensure company complianse and adherence to copmany standards. Work closely with office colleagues in order achieve Safety, Quality and Production targets.

The primary purpose of this position is to plan, lead, organize and control the functions of the Warranty Failed Material Store in accordance with the Warranty Policy and Procedures of GMSA. Maintain good relationships between GMSA Dealer Network as well Suppliers accross South Africa. Liaise with Local Suppliers with regard to the accepting and rejecting of Failed Material Submitted for Warranty Claims. Ensure that Suppliers reject/accept parts submitted to them in line with their Contractual Obligation between GMSA and themselves. Maximize Warranty expenditure Recovery from Local Suppliers. Work closely with Failed Material team to improve methods and processes in order to increase Warranty Claims Accepted by all Suppliers. Expected result – a yearly recovery of >2% of Warranty Spend approximately R4m.
