The Dutch foundation 'De Nationale DenkTank' aims to improve the cooperation and knowledge exchange between the academic, public and private sector, and contribute innovatively to society. Each year approximately 20 talented phd-students, recent graduates and master students from different academic backgrounds are selected to form a thinktank. Within four months the thinktank works on producing creative, visionary but also practical solutions for a social problem. This year we tackle the question: How can we fasten the transition in the Netherlands towards a circular economy?

CCAFS brings together the world’s best researchers in agricultural science, development research, climate science, and Earth System science, to address the most important synergies between climate change, agriculture and food security. I assist the Program Management Unit of CCAFS with research activities.

If left unregulated, the shipping and aviation sector is projected to emit almost 40% of global emissions in 2050 (Study EP 2015, link: goo.gl/xO5bP2). However, there are plenty of technologies to reduce emissions from ships and airplanes. To identify promising technologies for CE Delft, I will made an inventory of the technological viability and total cost of ownership of carbon neutral fuels for the aviation and maritime sector.

To call attention to the opportunities provided by a transition to renewable energy, Urgenda organized a march from Utrecht (NL) to Paris (FR) ahead of the 2015 UN Climate Change Conference. I gave overall support during the march and was responsible for the first aid care and the specific route on three days.

As part of a university course, I co-wrote a report critical infrastructure for the ministry of infrastructure and the environment. I was contact person towards the ministry.

As part of the Netherlands-Asia Honors Summer School (NAHSS) I co-wrote a report on business opportunities for Chinese entrepreneurs in the Netherlands, for the accountancy firm PwC. I was the contact person for the project group with PwC, the Netherlands Foreign Investment Agency and a deputy minister of Taiwan among others.

To assist chocolate company Tony’s Chocolonely with their choice of milk, I benchmarked the sustainability of six different milk farming systems in the Netherlands. For this I collected the opinions and data of consumers, companies, interest groups and research institutes.
