Section Manager for the International Validation Branch Specific duties include:Monitoring and evaluating performance of Program Managers and Aviation Safety Assistants. Ensuring employees have technical skills and training to accomplish their assigned tasks.Monitoring organizational health and regularly seeking input and feedback from employees through staff meetings. Defining and assigning accountability for key internal performance objectives. Engaging personnel in monitoring key performance indicators and making adjustments necessary to achieve key performance objectives. Partnering with other AIR organizations to accomplish work. Representing FAA at aviation events, industry conferences, and other civil aviation authority meetings on topics pertinent to certification or Continued Operational Safety. Mediating the resolution of controversial technical disputes involving complex engineering issues.Monitoring and approving expenditure of funds. Assigning, communicating, and clarifying context for tasks and responsibilities. Overseeing daily operations to ensure timeliness, effectiveness, efficiency, productivity, and compliance with policy in attaining organizational goals. Facilitating coordination and effective communication across FAA organizations, the aviation industry, other civil aviation authorities, and union representatives to accomplish work.

Responsible for planning, coordinating, reviewing, and evaluating activities of matrix teams assembled for the timely completion of type certification projects of aircraft, engines or propellers using advanced materials, systems and design concepts. Review and analyze applications for type certification and supplemental type certification design approvals from domestic, foreign and Organizational Designation Authorization (ODA) applicants. Determine the overall safety of proposed aircraft, engines and propellers, areas requiring issue papers, general acceptability of proposals, resource utilization, and applicability of the proposed certification schedules. Coordinate with other FAA team members to ensure that all safety concerns and possible items affecting more than one area are addressed and resolved.
