Database Expert / Performance Manager / Etl DeveloperUnipolsai Assicurazioni Spa Feb 2011 - Dec 2015Turin▪ SigmaNet CRM insurance project. Production database re-modeling for downsize and performance tuning purposes. Only Microsoft SQL Server Express Edition was allowed, so the size did matter and global resources were limited. It was distributed on about 2.500 insurance agencies. Design and development of a run-time monitoring system for every database error occurring remotely with a daily gathering of all data to the central server to predict possible software mis-behaviour in any agency. Also performance indicators were gathered to anticipate possible future poor performance behaviour even before user complaints. Some occasional activities of performance tuning for other companies due to poor performance on production databases or prevention of poor performance due to size scaling. From May 2014 to October 2015 ETL T-SQL programmer to permit moving all relevant data from SQL Server 2008 R2 to IBM Host systems using dedicated programming and procedures to assure the correct data and behaviour of the data moving. Daily checks for data consistency and weekly 24h assistance during the weekend when the data were actually moved from SQL Server to IBM Hosts via .csv text files -
Project Manager, Database Engineer, Web-Pages DesignerOasys Srl May 2014 - Mar 2015Torino, ItaliaProject manager for an innovative insurance agency management tool. A Web-based project made using Microsoft technologies (MVC5, HTML5, Ajax, MS SQL Server 2012). A team of about 12 elements including two business experts to gather the latest and most useful requirements in order to create a brand new type of insurance product with the highest end-user usability and satisfaction.I was the only “connection-man” amongst all the members and all the expertise involved in the project. Project management and database design were my responsibilities. I gathered all the requirements from two field experts to match the real end-users needs, seen from their point of view in their different roles inside an insurance agency. Then I did the software analysis and I passed it directly to the software developers to be implemented.I also made the conceptual and physical design of all the web-page mockups (using Balsamiq). Test planning and all other issues were also my responsibilities at least as supervisor. The main skill has been to create an enthusiastic team environment, focused on solutions instead of problems, creating good relationships between all team members with a non-hierarchical concept of management.

Senior Developer In C LanguageSanpaolo Imi Oct 1999 - Jun 2002Turin Integration of a pre-existent parallel encryption library (DES) with a new public/private key encryption library (RSA) Porting of some internal pre-existent banking applications to modify the original calculation currency from Italian Lira to Euro -
Oracle Datawarehouse Analyst & Pl/Sql DeveloperIveco – Methods & Systems Jun 1994 - Dec 1999Turin▪ Partial analysis and design for the IT division internal Datawarehouse. Huge amounts of data coming from many different sources to be integrated together and refreshed every night. I had also to support or to develop PL/SQL code in case of critical access to DWH data. The main issue was always a high performance data access. My main tasks were:▫ To create the Unix shell scripts to load new data reading some external text files, to be processed using ETL standards, to load the data in a “Staging Area” and manipulate the data verifying their consistency. If data were valid then move them into the main DWH▫ In case of failure of the previous procedure I wrote a set of shell scripts dedicated to the error handling that would have sent emails to some data manager, including myself, to handle the issue and reload the correct data. So the next morning end-users could have the expected data inside the DWH▫ There were also end-users tools like Cognos Impromptu and PowerPlay to create analytical reports. Impromptu was dedicated to “plain” relational queries and PowerPlay to “HyperCubes” of data for BI analysis. Both of this tools needed additional grouped data based onto the plain data. I wrote stored procedures in PL/SQL language to create additional structures needed from the Marketing Division to quickly create previsional selling forecasts▪ The same IT Division had also some client/server applications made in Visual Basic that needed high performance databases on the server-side. The configuration was made of six different databases remotely connected, one database for each Iveco truck production “plant” in Europe. I was responsible of the PL/SQL code writing expecially where the remote distribution of the data created performance issues▪ Support to external applications developed in outsourcing that had performance issues when delivered in real Iveco production databases -
