Fabio is a professional with over 25 years of experience in design and develop solutions for the major Italian enterprise customers. Joining IBM in 1985, he covered different professional positions inside the company, from MVS System Programmer to Systems Engineer, up to Senior IT Architect. During the last years his main activities were related to revitalization of mainframe market and business development on System z. Fabio followed the development of cross-brand and cross-platform (hybrid) solutions, having the main focus on mainframe platform. He's also acting as a technical presales for some Tivoli products in the areas of SW asset management, licence management, cost management and security on System z. Fabio authored two ITSO Redbooks: one about WebSphere on z/OS and another one about smartphone access to mainframe. He published several technical articles and publications inside IBM, but also articles on external newspapers (such as Computerworld, italian edition). Senior It ArchitectIbm Jul 2015 - PresentStarting from 2015 I was looking to face a technical challenge again, so I asked to be involved in the pre-sales activities for a set of specific products. In addition to the current role of zClient Architect for selected IBM mainframe customers, I was also included in the ITOA Swat Team, providing support to IBM solutions in the area of Operational Analytic. This is an exciting area of development, as ITOA on mainframe means a set of new product to be developed, adapted and integrated with distributed offer, in order to cover new requests from market. Integration with other (non-IBM) platform is the key, as most of the customers have already an operational analytic solution in place. Partnership with Splunk and support provided to open-source solutions like ELK will expand IBM ITOA solutions. -
Senior It ArchitectIbm Jan 2005 - Jun 2015Segrate, ItalyIn 2005 I joined Software Group division in IBM Italy. In this division I assumed a cross-brand role with a particular focus on several Tivoli product related to capacity planning (TDSz), SW asset management (SoftAudit/TLCMz/TADz) and security (zSecure suite). In parallel, I supported also several initiatives in revitalization of mainframe market. One of them was related to use of smartphones to access mainframe data. This initiative was followed by some articles on newspapers (Computerwold) and an ITSO residency to produce a redbook (ISBN=0738434434, IBM Form Number=SG24-7836). The redbook got more than 4200 downloads and 9800 abstract hits. At beginning of 2011 I joined zStack team as zAdvocate for selected customers. Another activity I'm following is hunting new customers on mainframe.

It ArchitectIbm Jan 2000 - Dec 2004Vimercate, ItalyIn 2000 I came back in IBM, as ISSC was totally acquired by IBM. In this period, I followed SW Asset Management activity, in order to rationalize SW utilization and reduce the costs. After one year, the savings related to my project was about 2 million dollars. In parallel with the cost reduction activities, I followed new propositions to customers, based on solutions with Java, WebSphere and zLinux. Objective of these activities was to increase new workload on mainframes. During this period I joined an ITSO residency (WebSphere for z/OS Connectivity Architectural Choices) in order to produce a redbook (IBM form=SG24-6365)
