Fabio Vignolo, architect and founder of FVAA srl - Fabio Vignolo Architetti Associati, Architecture office based in Turin and Quarona.Founder of MAKE YOURSELF A HOME, start up involved in researching and providing innovative construction systems for emergency shelters and dwelling units.Always interested in processes that can lead projects with smart approaches, combining social engagement and local development with sustainable use of resources, I am focusing my design skills to prefabricated wooden structures, innovative and sustainable construction systems. wood is my passion. And both are my field of interest in my professional works.My background:After working in the USA at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute where I explored the themes of digital fabrication, I graduated with honours from the Faculty of Architecture of the Politecnico di Torino with a thesis on an urban renewal project of the Spina 4, in the north-west quadrant of Turin, which was also part of an international design competition as "The Metamorphosis.” During 2008 I had my internship at CRA Carlo Ratti Associati. Between 2011 and 2012 I worked at Fuksas Architects with the team in charge of the artistic direction and project management of the new EUR Congress Centre in Rome and I participated in the competition for the redevelopment of the Manifattura Tabacchi site in Bologna. In 2012, at Mararanello with Camerana and Partners, I was involved in the installation of Ferrari’s business premises, managing all stages of planning and direction of work. More over, from 2012 to 2016 I was lead architect and and co-founder of BAM! Bottega di architettura metropolitana, architecture office based in Turin, leaded in team with Simona della Rocca and Alberto Bottero.*As an active member of Mattone su Mattone Onlus, which deals with the development of self-construction projects in South America and Africa with low-cost technologies and environmentally friendly building systems using blocks made of clay.
