Fabiola [Gutiérrez] Arce is a professional in social sciences with a focus on comparative politics and has postgraduate studies in Cultural Studies, sexuality, human rights, and health and education policies, as well as supplementary studies in strategic leadership for defence and crisis management.She is part of the management team at the urban and social development consultancy Ruta Colectiva. Additionally, she is a researcher at the Research Group on Institutions, Policies, and Citizenship at the Centre for Sociological, Political, and Anthropological Research of the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru (PUCP) and supports the work of the Governance Committee of the International Board of Directors of Amnesty International.Fabiola has previously worked as a Liaison Officer for the United Nations Human Settlements Programme and as a Programme Officer for Active Citizenship and Democratic Space at Oxfam in Peru, among other roles. She has also taught at the Faculty of Social Sciences at PUCP, at the Faculty of Political Science and Government at the National University of San Marcos, and in the Transitional Justice Programme at the Institute for Democracy and Human Rights (IDEHPUCP). Furthermore, she has been part of the Working Group on Factual Powers and Public Opinion within the Department of Social Sciences at PUCP and has participated in publications promoted by both public and private sectors.Fabiola is also an activist for human rights. Between 2011 and 2015, she was part of the Board of Directors of the Peruvian Section of Amnesty International, and from 2017 to 2023, she served as Director of the International Board of Directors of Amnesty International, a position she held as the youngest person ever elected to this role.Her undergraduate research work has been recognised with an award for best thesis in Political Science by her university, and her professional work and activism have received recognition from municipal government bodies, community associations managing communal kitchens, and from the International Board of Directors of Amnesty International.Fabiola appreciates that when her work is cited, her maternal surname Arce is used.
