UBC BEST is a multi-disciplinary team of students from the Faculty of Applied Science (Engineering), Science, Sauder School of Business, Kinesiology, Arts and Medicine focused on developing context appropriate solutions to medical challenges worldwide. MEA Forensic performs forensic investigations specializing in collision reconstruction, injury biomechanics, failure analysis, and human factors, among others. Part of performing high-quality technical investigations lies in research, which MEA is also extensively involved in. Research areas include whiplash injury, spine and head injuries, and helmet effectiveness to name just a few. MEA’s technical experts let the evidence guide them in discovering and providing key answers to a variety of cases.

Ammolite develops a Tactile Knee of extensively engineered materials to feel like real bone and soft tissues to train the tactile hand skills needed for arthroscopy and arthroplasty, without the biohazard of cadaveric or the danger to patients. By focusing on replicating the patient anatomy and tactile feel, they are enabling the learning of intricate hand skills outside of the operating room and keeping patients safe.
