I received the M.Sc. degree in Control & Automation Engineering from the University of Padova in 1996. Since 1998, I have been working in the Energy sector, initially at Saipem (a major Italian contractor) and later at Eni (a major Italian energy company). From 1998 to 2013, I served as an R&D engineer in marine, subsea, and deep-sea robotics for exploration, monitoring, and operation on O&G fields. During this time, I participated to several marine exploration campaigns and EU-co-financed projects in collaboration with major national and international partners, including INGV Italy, ENEA Italy, IFREMER France, and NATO SACLANT Undersea Research Centre. From Jan. to Mar. 2003, I have been a member of the XVIII Italian scientific campaign in Antarctica, as part of the PNRA (Italian National Program of Research in Antarctica). From 2013 to 2018, I worked as a project leader in the evaluation and assessment of technologies for marine energy, including wave, tide, and wind. Since 2018, I have been part of the Magnetic Fusion Technology team (MAFE) within the Magnetic Fusion Initiatives (MFI) dept. of Eni as responsible for managing several projects with partners like MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology), CNR (Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche), ENEA, and major Italian Universities. He is focused on developing technologies for control operations and maintenance of a tokamak, including the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning. Since 2023, I am in charge as WBS manager and Responsible Officer of CODAS of DTT (the Divertor Tokamak Test project).
