I studied chemistry at the ETH Zurich and earned a PhD in solid state inorganic chemistry from the same institution. After working for 2 years as a postdoctoral fellow at UC Berkeley on synthesis of quantum dots, I started working as one of the first employees at Kovio, a startup company that developed a technology for printing electronic circuits on flexible substrates for consumer electronic products. At Kovio, I developed inks of the materials necessary to build electronic circuits, i.e. semiconductors, metals, insulators, dopants, including a silver ink and the first high purity silicon ink in the world. I worked both as individual contributor as well as the manager of the chemistry group at Kovio. After 9 years at Kovio, I moved to Siluria Technologies as the first technical employee. Again, I started as individual contributor, developing novel metal oxide nanowires and nanowire-based catalysts for the oxidative coupling of methane (OCM) and advanced Siluria technology of using natural gas for producing chemicals and fuels. Again, I moved to a managerial role and eventually I became the Senior Director of Catalyst R&D and Scale-up and my group was responsible for the discovery and development of all proprietary materials at Siluria and their manufacture up to commercial scale, hence directly working with external manufacturing companies. Under my lead, an OCM catalyst was produced in large quantities (hundreds of kilograms) by catalyst manufacturing companies. Throughout my career, I was the inventor in 58 US patents, including most materials related patents of Kovio and Siluria. In my career, I have been very successful at applying my core expertise in inorganic chemistry, material science and nanomaterials, to very different fields, such as the semiconductor and the petrochemical industries and I am very eager to apply them to new fields. Moreover, I thrived both as individual contributor and manager and therefore I am equally open to work in either role.
