Norus is a scale-up energy-tech based in Floripa which develops decision support systems for energy companies, mostly trading companies in the energy commercialization market. I joined Norus in February, 2015, as a researcher, to work on a R&D project financed by a major power generation company. Alongside the R&D project we started to develop decision support systems to automate tasks and bring intelligence to the energy commercialization process. Little more than 1 year later I was invited by the co-founders to become a partner and lead software development area. Since I joined Norus, the company launched 3 products: Prospec, Pluvia and Imeris. All of them are web applications developed in ASP.NET MVC, with a modest frontend and a robust backend, full of complex business rules from the energy market. In the products, my role was to start the development of the applications, build the teams to keep evolving them and coordinate the daily activities necessary to deliver the products. As a business partner, I was responsible for all technology matters and contributed to the company's strategy. The IFSC has 22 units, spread across the state of Santa Catarina.I joined IFSC in July, 2016, as an Information Technology Analyst, working in the central administration building located at Florianópolis. I worked in the implementation of two main information systems: (1) the institution's integrated management system; (2) the institution's internet portal. Both of them were built in Java and the portal was based on the CMS Liferay. The systems were built by external contractors and the team of analysts at IFSC were matching the systems’ features to organization's needs, representing the institution in the interaction with software contractors. Besides the role played in the implementation of these two main projects I also worked on the technical support, helping the academic community to achieve their goals using the institution's information technology resources. The team was composed by 3 software engineers and 4 business consulting analysts. A plataforma foi construída como uma aplicação Web usando tecnologias como ASP.NET MVC, jQuery, jQuery UI e SQL Server. Além da integração com o sistema hospitalar a plataforma tinha integração com: (1) um modelo de programação matemática para geração automática das cirurgias agendadas para as próximas semanas e (2) modelos de IA para previsão da duração das cirurgias.Após 1 ano como pesquisador, fui aprovado para cursar o doutorado no Programa Doutoral em Engenharia e Gestão Industrial (PRODEGI). Meu tema de pesquisa foram algoritmos para o problema do agendamento de cirurgias sob incerteza. Em Fevereiro de 2015 defendi a tese intitulada: 'Large scale elective surgery scheduling under uncertainty'. Durante a permanência no Porto, participei de projetos de pesquisa ligados a FEUP, de projetos de consultoria ligados a diversos institutos de pesquisa localizados ao redor da FEUP (INESC TEC, IDMEC, IBM CAS). Também atuei como professor de aulas práticas de programação para alunos do Mestrado Integrado em Engenharia e Gestão Industrial (MIEGI), participei da comissão organizadora do Simpósio de Engenharia Industrial e Gestão (IEMS), das sessões do DEGI Club e de diversas conferências na área de pesquisa operacional em Portugal, em outros países da Europa e nos EUA.
