I help my clients solve hard electromechanical problems that are late, under-resourced, and tightly coupled. By bringing a wide variety of experiences and skills to the table, I can help unlock projects that are gated by performance, cost, or schedule constraints, with an eye towards external factors like manufacturing and logistics. A varied background allows me to suggest and implement mechanical, electrical, or software solutions.

Engineering handyman. Take care of everything from CAD work to solving complex multi-physics problems.

Set technical direction and managed internal and external engineering efforts to produce a set of high quality looks-like/works-like prototypes. Managed technical risk with an eye towards producing reliable units quickly, with a realistic path to production.

Primarily responsible for managing technical development of products and related hardware. Ideveloped and validated possible electromechanical architectures for early stage concepts, then fleshed them out and managed engineering tasks during detailed design. Also responsible for presenting technical information to clients, including engineering, budget, and schedule related matters.

Responsible for electro-mechanical design/integration, design for manufacture, and manufacturing process development for a rugged, handheld, battery operated mass spectrometer. Worked on hardware design and integration for the device, design and implementation of supporting hardware (test/assembly/manufacturing fixtures, characterization rigs, experimental equipment), and management of suppliers and other external resources. Helped manage external engineering resources related to M908's bespoke vacuum pump, and helped spur an internal program that ultimately produced a pump which exceeded all of our performance requirements.

Worked with customers to develop processes for manufacturing die-cut assemblies on existing equipment for short-run production, and develop standalone manufacturing lines for high volume production. Responsible for continuing improvements to existing processes, equipment, and facilities.

Developed a maintenance tool for Subaru vehicles available through TurnInConcepts.com. A new version of this tool, re-designed for professional use, is available through Snap-On.

Production CNC machinist. Responsibilities evolved to include programming, process design, and tooling design/selection in addition to machine setup and operation. Aggressive improvements in process efficiency and tool selection resulted in vastly improved productivity and quality, with some of our staple products running up to 300% faster.
