In my day to day tasks, I oversee the Conservation Strategy, Knowledge Management, and Impact division in developing, implementing, and monitoring compelling, impactful programs that advance AWF’s strategic vision. I lead and supervise the successful role out of the country programs. Support them when needed, in terms of high-level Policy and advocacy meetings. I define, lead the development, and guide the delivery of AWF’s conservation strategy and conservation results all while leading the strategy process, overseeing and implementing plans in close collaboration with the CEO and other senior AWF staff.Overseeing the development, documentation, and continuous improvement of standard operating procedures (SOPs) for program operations and management of staff. SOPs should focus on streamlining operations, reducing implementation costs, mitigating risks, enhancing collaboration and transparency, and developing/engaging staff. I create an awareness of the behaviors and culture needed to promote knowledge management and guide and support both individuals and teams in embracing a change in behavioral style, moving from data/information push to knowledge pull and sharing.

Diligently led the AWF program strategy process and implemented plans in close collaboration with the CEO and other senior AWF staff. Oversaw the programs team to develop compelling, impactful programming to advance Conservation and directed operations by building functional excellence and fostering meaningful career development. Directly supervised the Vice President Sciences & Species, Vice President, Government & Environment; Senior Director Project Implementation; Youth Program Coordinator; Senior Manager Knowledge Management; Manager Strategy and Impact Analysis, Conservation Management Associates.Utilized multiple strategies to accelerate and strengthen AWF’s collaborative partnerships and resource sharing with a focus on those that will help amplify the voices (youth, women, and African Leaders).Developed innovative initiatives to enhance efficiency and effectiveness throughout the program department. Articulated and established measurable goals, objectives, and metrics for assessing, reporting, and improving impact. Prioritized, documented, and continually improved standard operating procedures (SOPs) for program operations and management of staff. SOPs focused on streamlined operations, reduced implementation costs, mitigated risks, enhanced collaboration, and transparency, and developing/engaging staff. Closely collaborated with HR to shape the vision for and experience of AWF in alignment with its culture and core values. Proactively participated in the review and enforcement of organizational policies and procedures. Participated in preparation for quarterly Board of Trustees meetings all while staffing the Board Conservation Committee.

Oversaw AWF policy engagement in Africa (government, foundation, private sector, regional institutions) and led strategic and programmatic planning. Led program inception and annual planning exercises and reviewed programmatic assumptions, plans, and pace to ensure programs remain on a good course considering changing operational realities. Provided technical support on monitoring initiatives across the organization, including review of relevant plans, interim results, and final products.Strengthened the development of project monitoring, learning, and evaluation into decision-making and work planning. Analyzed national /regional plans, legislation, and other policy related topics that impacted and influenced conservation and craft stare strategies for long term engagement and stewardship toward Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs); Push the vision and institutional development of AWF as the leading Pan African conservation NGO nationally, regionally and globally.

West And Central Africa

Oversaw program implementation and policy engagement in Central and West Africa programs in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Niger, Senegal, and Cameroon across 10 project sites. Established and steered relationships with partners and funders to grow the portfolio of work in Central and West Africa.Led program inception and annual planning exercises and ensured implementers and other partners were enforcing all grant terms, conditions, rules, and regulations.Streamlined and managed staff performance all while representing the region internally, updating the Senior Management team, Executive Office, and Board of Directors as appropriate on significant developments in the region. Transformed the design, development, and implementation of programs across West Africa and drive strategy for the region as a whole. Championed and enhanced high-level relationships with key African institutions including the African Union, the African Development Bank, the Pan African Parliament, the Regional Economic Blocks, as well as national governments.Led operations of any signed MOUs and also with complimentary NGOs in other sectors, such as energy, development, health, and agriculture.

Led, planned, executed, implemented, and monitored all AWF's landscape projects throughout the continent. Ingrained and transformed solid project management concepts into AWF's management culture, such as consistency, urgency, and adaptive management; increased pace of conservation implementation, and improved satisfaction of donors.
