I strive to follow it whenever possible and suitable in almost every piece of work I’m handling – be it a headline, a tagline, the name of a product or company, an ad, a radio script or a long article. That’s because I believe that any kind of education or communication – regardless of how serious or complicated it may be – should involve an element of entertainment, since the intended message would be more likely to stick in the mind (and, hopefully, the heart) of the reader or listener. Simultaneously, I try my bit to safeguard the beautiful, eloquent and venerable Arabic language – the lingua franca for a thousand years of science, technology, art, literature and civilization – against common mistakes, colloquialisms and mediocrity; and I try to help in promoting it as an excellent means of communication and advertising, on par with any other international language, if not better.
