Joined Movie Animation Park Studios in May 2017 as part of the pre-opening team to ensure the park was opened by 26th June 2017. Park Services General ManagementThe job involved leading a team which were in a pre-operations mode with missed timelines to open the park, to transition into an operations team which had successfully opened the park and maintained required standard operating procedures for day-to-day running. In addition to executing plans for improvement of the facilities and obtaining approvals from Senior Management including from the parent company (Perbadanan Kemajuan Negeri Perak), I had also reviewed internal manpower requirements and provided insights and recommendations to better support park operation needs. Over the two years of operations, a number of events were successfully coordinated by the collaborating Events Department team supported by my departments above working in the background. In my position, I had also met and networked with personnel in government departments including but not limited to Jabatan Keselamatan dan Kesihatan (DOSH), PDRM, BOMBA, RELA, Setiausaha Kerajaan (SUK) and Majlis Bandaraya Ipoh among others. The role I played in my time here is to coordinate and facilitate the work required and proposed by my subordinates as opposed to the general idea of dictating what needs to be done.

Puteri Harbour is 5 minutes’ drive from Legoland Malaysia Resort in Iskandar Puteri, Johor, Malaysia.In this job role, I had close working relationships with the respective heads of departments of;1. Park Operations & Content Dept.2. Entertainment & Audio Visual Dept.3. F&B and Merchandise Dept.4. Human Resource & Administration Dept.5. Warehouse & Receiving Dept.6. Finance & Revenue Dept.7. Safety & Security Dept.8. Sales & Marketing Dept.9. Maintenance Dept.The role required a lot of time to observe actual consumer behaviour on the floor and formulate strategies to improve as opposed to guessing from the sales reports. As such I had coordinated meetings between heads of departments to carefully find out what is the reality of the business and our response to meet new challenges. Having a good candidate as Finance Manager was crucial to ensure P&L statements, cash-flow reports and balance sheets were as accurate as possible to facilitate the best possible running of the park. Regular engagement with Sanrio and Mattel was critical to ensure the parks upheld the characters’ intellectual property with our staff aligned to deliver the experience to guests that stayed true to the brands. Networking with personalities within the service industry in Johor was important to ensure the brands remained relevant with a vast 45% of visitors being domestic Johor residents followed by those from Selangor, Kuala Lumpur and also international visitors from Singapore, Indonesia, Hong Kong and more.
