Empowering and engaging the youth of Brent communities with Events, Career prospects, mentorship, liaising with families, councils, Metropolitan Police and other youth organisations. We are at the heart of youth work and often act as a preventative measure for youth offenders.

I would alongside colleagues lead sessions to teaching staff for CPD, on how to embed Oracy within the frameworks of the school curriculums. In small groups we would equip staff with strategies and tools from the four Oracy frameworks: physical, linguistic, cognitive, social and emotional.

This role entailed being a champion of the largest ethnic group at the school, Somalis. My role consisted of monitoring the progression of all Somali students from attainment, behaviour and attendance. I needed to research, analyse trends and data, initiating intervention strategies to improve academic results whilst engaging with Parents.

I was tasked with overseeing the attainment, attendance and behaviour of an entire year group. The role required leading tutor groups, presenting assembly's, analysing data, making decisions on the future of students, liaison with parents and external agencies.

Working Predominantly in the SEND (Special Educational Needs Department), I aided students in lessons, tutoring during interventions for key students and those with Education Health and Care Plan (EHCP). I also mentored students helping them through their school experience, organising sessions and becoming a positive role model for students.

The National Education Union is the biggest Union for the education profession. My role as Representative meant that I represented members of the Union at school on work placed problems and often gave advice and support on matters. I would often chair meetings amongst members and regularly meet with the Principal and Brent District Secretary.

English, Government and Politics, Sociology and RE at City Educators, a private tuition centre. Taught students of different backgrounds including Somalis, with age range from 10-15. I helped students improve their literacy skills for SATS; GCSE, A level exams. I had four hours of teaching per week. My assignments included marking class work, marking students' assessments of their performance, preparations and meetings with my supervisor and parents.
