As a dedicated and accomplished Upstream Research Scientist with a First-Class Honours degree in Biomedical Science from Teesside University, I bring a wealth of knowledge and practical experience in mammalian cell culture and bioprocessing, ensuring the highest standards of GLP are maintained.In my role as an Upstream Research Scientist, I have mastered aseptic techniques, handled liquid nitrogen dewars for critical cell vial acquisitions, and operated advanced bioreactor systems such as the AMBR250, Wave 25, and XDR10/50/200. My proficiency extends to using Vi-CELL XR, NOVA BioProfile FLEX2, Blood-Gas Analyser, and Osmometer for precise measurement of cell culture components. I am well-versed in handling AKTA chromatography systems for protein purification, and interpreting complex data related to antibody glycan, titre, acidic/basic species, and fragmentation. I have also dealt with the planning of project laboratory activities, material ordering, protocol authoring, experiment write-ups and reports as well as slidedeck generation and customer presentations. Key projects and achievements in my career include conducting comprehensive Design of Experiments studies to optimize cell line selection and process parameters. Furthermore, I have led a 14-day study on GlutaMAX, demonstrating its efficacy as an alternative to L-Glutamine in reducing ammonia accumulation, and presented these findings to the innovation team. As an EHS advocate, I proactively managed lab safety and advised peers on best practices. I have experience in the use of software such as Unicorn, Wonderware and ELN.
