I am working as consultant paeds intensivist at this tertiary care, Central referral and teaching hospital of Pakistan Army. I am looking after the 10 bedded PICU and also responsible for Paeds intensive care at Army liver transplant unit, Military hospital. In addition I am an assistant professor on teaching faculty of army medical college, and involved in teaching and training of undergraduate, postgraduate programmes.In PICU the bulk of admissions are of respiratory, cardiovascular and renal failures requiring mechanical ventilation, inotropic supports, Central venous access, peritoneal and hemodialysis, plasmaelectrophoresis, sedation, analgesia and parental nutritional support. In addition we take post-op paediatric surgical patients and neurosurgical post-op patients randomly over and above our capabilities and resources. At liver transplant unit I am responsible for the preop transplant feasibility of the recepient and in Post op care of the paediatric transplant patients. This includes ventilation, inotropic support, fluids and electrolytes balance, immunosupression, infection control and nutritional support.In addition I am examiner at college of physicians and surgeons Pakistan and involved in fellowship exams as examiner, paper setter, and paper checkers.
