I have spent a significant number of years in the public and NGO sectors. I'd like to believe I now have a keen understanding of the capabilities, aspirations and frustrations of these sectors, especially during global economic crises. Those who suffer most are what is colloquially known as the "begging bowl" industry; NGOs and charities, and of course Joe Public. I too, like countless others, have had to reinvent myself during 2020 - and thankfully so. I have for the longest time already felt uncomfortable with what was - it felt like something was off. And of course, something was off. I found myself looking at the world and seeing, as if for the first time, how what we were thinking to be "normal" was actually broken. The valueless paper money we have been chasing can't actually free us from things like poverty and dis-ease, dis-comfort and discrimination. The activist in me found it counterintuitive that we are customers to the pharmaceutical industry - when all we really wanted was to feel better by going to see someone who took the Hippokratical path, right? The truth is that we have trusted the human element in all of these social contracts (economics and financial systems; the healthcare industry; the entertainment industry and of course, fearbased political economy) for far too long. For longer than their Sell By dates. For longer than their Use By dates. Still, it is never too late. I believe the solutions to the problems of the world is locked up in the one continent that's been #framed as the problem child of the world, Africa. My life's purpose is dedicated to an all-inclusive #justice that can only emerge from #Africa, the #Alkebulan. I'm part of a social movement that seeks to unite ALL Africans, everywhere, under a single Baobab tree, to speak with a single voice with a laser sharp, singular focus on reinstating Africa as a leader of, and among, nations.
