I am a veteran fintech professional with 2 decades of experience in designing and managing digital products for emerging markets. I have built and operated products, platforms and teams and grown them over time and across several countries.Being the primary engineer (and CTO) from the early startup days of Cellulant, I built and managed everything in technology. Over time, I evolved the tech stack as the business grew across Africa and built a team of over 100 engineers in various disciplines and specializations. Over the years, I have contributed positively to the digitization of payments in Africa. I designed and built the first set of interconnections between banks and mobile money platforms, starting in Kenya (before proper integration or API’s were in place). This work later became an essential growth catalyst for most mobile money services across the region; the scope of this service grew to over 60 respectable banks in several countries. My contribution to the wider business ecosystem is witnessed by the number of notable technology leaders in the region who were once in my team- some who have founded their own ventures and some are holding important roles in well-known organizations in and outside of Africa. I am now steering product strategy and product management at Cellulant as Chief Product Officer. My day job is building and rolling out Africa’s payment platform of choice: Tingg.
