Children who deal with certain situations in their youth are more likely to experience other major challenges later in life. A revelation of this fact prompted me to explore beyond my 15+ year career as a healthcare procurement leader and really dig my heels into proactively impacting children and families on the front lines.FOR EXAMPLE,… ✰ In a school setting, if a parent went through a divorce, they may need help with living arrangements, food support, or counseling (to minimize learning disruptions for the student(s)). I can help connect them to the resources they need.✰ Often in healthcare settings, discharged patients may require assistance with care options, rehab centers, therapy, or discounted medications. I would act as the conduit between the patient, the care team, and the needed resources.To get in position for my shift, I pursued rigorous education, joined professional organizations; I stay current via industry associations, and I tap my natural “helping” gifts to serve others. 📚 🍎 💈 💻 🛏 🙋🏿‍♂‍ 🤷🏾‍♀‍ 🙇🏼 👩🏾‍🎓 ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬As a former children’s minister, I’ve built various programs from the ground up, recognizing the needs of students and families, and hosting community events including food drives and fundraisers; directed families to available resources including athletic teams, ministries, mentoring, and counseling. In an earlier youth volunteer role, I established relationships with community organizations and discovered a love for organizing events. I connected with artists for concerts and secured donations for student drives (among other things).Working with kids is my calling… to connect with them AND ensure they are thriving with the right resources.
