As a Family Bereavement Homicide Advocate at the State Attorney’s Office in Baltimore, I was dedicated to supporting victims and witnesses of crime through the aftermath of traumatic events. My role involved providing crucial case information and guiding individuals through the complex criminal justice process, ensuring they were informed and empowered. I also facilitated discussions about safety concerns and post-trial matters, offering a compassionate and supportive presence during a time of immense uncertainty.A key aspect of my role was cultivating and maintaining strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders, ranging from local law enforcement to community organizations at the state and federal levels. This allowed me to effectively coordinate services, ensuring victims and their families had access to the resources they needed to rebuild their lives.I co-facilitated bi-weekly meetings for a victim family bereavement support group, creating a safe space for families affected by homicide. These meetings, activities, and events were designed to foster healing and provide essential emotional support.Additionally, I reviewed and assessed emergency aid requests in accordance with the Emergency Victim Assistance Fund guidelines, assisting victims with securing emergency travel, lodging, and replacing essential personal items, and connecting them with other crisis intervention services.I also documented client engagement services and reported these to federal and state agencies that provided funding, ensuring compliance and securing continued financial support for critical victim services. Created, directed, planned, coordinated, and controlled the execution of agency youth development program activities and services for over 150 youths yearly. As the lead Instructor, I trained, developed, and supervised three Department of Juvenile Services (DJS) Corps Career Readiness Training Programs for At-Risk Youth ages 14-21. After completion of the program, youth were placed in full-time employment, which leads to permanent placement for over 65% of youth. Surpassed attendance and completion goals for all programs within four months of employment, resulting in a 95% classroom retention rate and 89% placement and retention throughout the program.
