At Buildium, I have the opportunity to grow my research and leadership skills while working with an extraordinary team. As the sole researcher for the first few months I've spent my time advancing the following efforts: 1. Establishing the research function within the organization through the creation of an internal research hub on confluence.2. Educating and empowering others to grow their research skills through method templates, workflows, and best practices. 3. Managing and hiring to expand our reach within the organization with a focus on developing curious and empathic UXers. 4. Strategizing for product direction by partnering with cross-functional leadership and informing roadmap decisions with high-quality exploratory research.

As a Design Thinking champion, I develop and execute research plans with our product teams. I encourage teams to focus on the goal not the method, to determine the most efficient path forward. With an emphasis on empathy, I lead discussions that bring us closer to solutions to our customers' pains.

Served as the primary researcher on a new venture team piloting the Outcome Driven Innovation process. Applied my expertise to create a research plan aligned with the goals of the venture, ultimately creating jobs-to-be-done, process steps, and outcome statements. Rapidly created new activities to perform with participants as the team narrowed its focus and taught best research practices to the other team members along the way.

As a member of the User Experience Team at MathWorks, I am responsible for making recommendations to team members about which usability methods to use to answer their questions about users and design directions based on projects' needs, goals, and constraints. I work closely with team members to conduct user research, identify pain points, develop user profiles and create task lists. I contribute to requirements and design documents in addition to collaborating on paper and functional prototypes. I'm always excited to run usability tests, conduct interviews and site visits, organize surveys, and perform other usability assessments. Once these activities are complete, I help the teams interpret and understand user feedback, and provide input for design decisions based on that feedback.
