Professor Fang Zhao is passionate about sustainability in its entirety. She is a strategist and advisor mainly in the areas of urban planning and governance (e.g. net zero cities), digital disruption, and environmental sustainability. She has led and/or undertaken a number of research and consultancy projects funded by governments, industry/businesses, and universities, including the Australian Research Council (ARC) Linkage Grant, an Australian Federal Government grant, the British Academy grant, and the UKRI-Global Challenges Research Fund. Professor Zhao is an academic entrepreneur and the Founder and CEO of Strategy&Ops Consultancy PTY LTD. (https://strategyandops.net), leading a multidisciplinary team of academia and industry experts on net-zero emissions and sustainable and inclusive growth.Her projects include Smart and Sustainable Cities strategy, (food) waste management, environmental sustainability, digital government, and digital strategy in SMEs. She is an internationally recognized leading author of over 120 peer-reviewed research works, many of them in top-tier journals in the study fields. Professor Zhao has worked in several senior leadership positions internationally, including Associate Dean - Research and Enterprise at Staffordshire Business School of Staffordshire University, United Kingdom, the Associate Dean – Management at School of Business and Law of Edith Cowan University, Australia, the Professor and Head of the School of Management and Public Administration of the University of the South Pacific, and the Professor and Acting Head of Management Department at the School of Business and Management (AACSB-Accredited) of the American University of Sharjah, United Arab Emirates.Professor Zhao is an experienced mentor and supervisor to a number of PhD, DBA, and MBA candidates.
