About Fania Noel

Fania Noël is an Afrofeminist activist, writer, and sociologist whose work spans the intersections of sociology, political science, and critical media studies. Her research and teaching interests include these fields and the interdisciplinary fields of Global Black studies and critical Feminist Theories. Alongside her academic publications, she is a prolific contributor to public scholarship in various journals and media outlets.Deeply committed to popular education, Fania balances her academic research and nonprofit consultancy with active involvement in community projects. She co-founded the political journal AssiégéEs in 2015 and, in 2021, curated the Haitian feminist anthology ALASO for the Haitian feminist organization NÈGÈS MAWON, where she also serves as Publication Director. Fania coordinates the curriculum of EKO, an Afrofeminist political school launched by the Mwasi Afrofeminist collective in Paris. She is the program director of the Feminisms, Gender, and Sexuality Studies Program for NÈGÈS MAWON in Haiti.Her third book is scheduled for release in October 2024. She is also the author of Et Maintenant le pouvoir: Un horizon politique afroféministe (Éditions Cambourakis, 2022) and Afro-Communautaire: Appartenir à nous-mêmes (Éditions Syllepse, 2019).
